Jamu Juice

Jamu is a popular Indonesian juice known for its health benefits. It's made with fresh turmeric root, ginger, honey, and a squeeze of lemon. While it may not taste like your typical orange juice, many people love it for its unique flavor and medicinal properties. Here's an easy recipe for you to try.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup of fresh turmeric root (rinsed, no need to peel)

  • 3/4 cup of fresh ginger (rinsed, no need to peel)

  • A pinch of black pepper

  • 4 cups of water (coconut water can be used)

  • Honey (to sweeten the drink)

  • Lemon or any other citrus fruit (for extra taste)

Instructions:

  • Ensure all ingredients are clean and fresh.

  • Chop the turmeric and ginger, then add them to a blender.

  • Add 2 cups of water and a pinch of black pepper to the blender.

  • Blend all the ingredients together. You have two options at this point: either bring the mixture to a boil or proceed without boiling.

  • Let the mixture sit for about 20 minutes.

  • Pour the mixture into a jar and add the remaining 2 cups of water, honey to sweeten, and a squeeze of lemon for better taste.

  • Stir everything well.

  • For an even smoother texture, strain the juice through a cloth before serving.

When and How to Drink Jamu Juice:

There are no strict rules regarding when to drink Jamu juice.
You can try having half a cup in the morning to boost your body or anytime during the day.
Avoid drinking Jamu between meals due to its strong taste.
If the taste is too intense, you can dilute it with more water.
Remember, you don't need to drink a lot of it; half a cup per day is sufficient.
Store it in the fridge or boil it and enjoy it as a warm tea during the winter season.
